being Film Photographer of the Year 2026 Finalist

I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected through an independent judging panel of ten rounds to be a runner up in the prestigious Film Photographer of the Year 2026 award, issued by Amateur Photographer Magazine.

Amateur Photographer Magazine, founded in the 1884, is the UK’s longest-running weekly photography publications, and its annual awards celebrate exceptional photographic craft across multiple disciplines — including those working exclusively with film.

In 2025, I entered a series of images from 2024 into this contest and ranked in the top 20 with an award of Expert Commended. In 2026, I entered a series of images captured in 2025 as part of my Vampirique Project, and very nearly won the contest! Project Vampirique is a body of work exploring dark portraiture through sculpted light and an analogue process — and pictures from it were honoured to be placed second in the contest, overall.

The top slot was awarded, due to her outstanding street photography work, to photographer Mavis CW who goes by OneChapter . Congratulations to her for the production of such a fine and admired sequence of images. You can read the official Amateur Photographer Magazine announcement HERE.

So what do I get for this positioning in one of the finest photography contests? I get £1K of Kodak film, and £1K of processing (as of 2026 pricing) covered by our friends at the superb Analogue Wonderland, and a Pentax T-Shirt. And, I got to attend the awards ceremony in London where I got to meet Andrew Church from Kodak Alaris, Paul from Analogue Wonderland, the other runner up, 1st place winner Mavis and her guest, and more. The evening boasted a guest list of world renowned photographers, including a Lifetime Achievement award for Jillian Edelstein as well as attendees from Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm and more. It was quite spectacular.

I intend to use my winning prize (the film) as part of future commissioned shoots, which allows me to expand my commissioned film work. If you're a brand, designer or creative director looking for something darker and more deliberate, by all means reach out to me if you think my unique perspective on the world could be of assistance to your next campaign or project.

My concluding thanks to Amateur Photographer, Kodak Alaris, Analogue Wonderland and Richoh Imaging for having me as part of the contest, and for running it. It helps photographers no end to be featured as part of such a thing.
